Biden Announces New Russian Sanctions
Biden has announced new sanctions that would target large financial institutions, 5 Russian elites, and Moscow's sovereign debt in an attempt to deter Putin from invading Ukraine as tensions continue to increase between Russia and Ukraine along with NATO allies. This has been an ongoing coverage by the media for some time now, but this most recent set of sanctions by Biden has created some differences in how the media responded.
CNN covered Biden's speech calling the language and the sanctions robust and Borger's translation of his showed no criticism commenting on how serious the president looked and that this was quintessential Biden language. While CNN showed little to no criticism of Biden's response to Russia, Fox was another story. Sean Hannity of Fox drills into Biden on his multiple failures one of which being how he has failed with the Russia Ukraine conflict. He brings up one of his tweets from February 2020 in which Biden said he was the only person to ever go toe-to-toe with Putin with Hannity saying did not age well. Fox lists Biden as a failure for not turning the screws on Russia allowing them to amass troops at the border for a year and failed to reimpose sanctions until now which Hannity calls the new sanctions as pathetic. It's no secret from the way that the two media giants cover anything related to Biden that CNN is more friendly to Biden while Fox is harsher.

It is more evident now than ever that certain media outlets polarized to one side. FOX without a question is more right leaning, while CNN is more left leaning. It does not matter what a democratic does, they will always be bashed by FOX, and the same goes for CNN and republicans. It is like you have to watch both channels, and the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Great post!
ReplyDeleteWhenever a person is watching the news on Fox or CNN they must realize that they are not just giving you the news. They are giving you their version of the news. Both sides are so polarized that they are going to have different takes on every major issue across the board. The only thing that we can do is listen to as many "views" as we can because most of the time the answer to these problems lie somewhere in the middle.
