Media Discrepancy on the signing of Florida's "Parental Rights in Education" bill
The Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, signed the "Parental Rights in Education" bill into law which many have dubbed the "Don't Say Gay" bill as the bill prohibits classroom instruction by school personnel or 3rd parties on sexual orientation or gender identity from kindergarten through third grade. Supporters of the bill state that this bill is meant to allow for parents to determine when and how to introduce LGBTQ topics to their children. The media covered this bill with many different reactions with CNN against the bill and Fox news in favor of the bill. CNN discussed the fact that while it's true that schools should be focused on teaching kids how to read and write, there is a big problem in the country is people in the LGBTQ community being bullied at school. The fact that schools should not even talk about a group of people is seen as an issue by CNN. Fox news though sees the hysteria surrounding the bill as calculated and is demonizing concerned parents. They talked about the fact that the mainstream media did not really sit down and read the bill because if they did they would know that it is a rational and reasonable bill.
